Odisha Police has suspended five officers, including the Inspector-in-Charge of Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar, following allegations of assault and molestation involving an Army officer and his female friend.
The suspension, ordered by DGP Y B Khurania, cites gross misconduct by Inspector Dinakrushna Mishra, sub-inspector Baisalini Panda, two women ASIs Salilamayee Sahoo and Sagarika Rath, and constable Balaram Hansda.
The incident began when the Army officer and his female friend attempted to file a road rage complaint early Sunday morning. Allegations include the officer being detained for over 10 hours and his female friend being assaulted and molested by the police. The Crime Branch of Odisha Police is investigating the case, while the Odisha High Court has ordered medical treatment for the female victim and is reviewing related petitions.
