FDA Seizes Rs 6 Lakh Worth of Ayurvedic Drugs in Thane Raid

The FDA seized Ayurvedic drugs worth Rs 6 lakh from Gynoveda Femtech Pvt. Ltd in Thane, Maharashtra, for violations of the Drugs and Magic Remedies Act. The raid aimed to ensure compliance with advertising regulations. Post-raids, drugs worth Rs 3.62 crore were prohibited from distribution due to labelling violations.

The Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) conducted a raid at Gynoveda Femtech Pvt. Ltd in Thane's Bhiwandi area, seizing Ayurvedic drugs valued at Rs 6 lakh for breaching the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954, and its Rules of 1955.

The seizure forms part of a larger investigation to ensure adherence to advertising regulations. According to an official, the violations were serious enough to warrant immediate action.

In addition to the Rs 6 lakh seizure, the FDA has also prohibited the distribution of drugs amounting to Rs 3.62 crore due to improper labelling practices, emphasising the need for stringent oversight in drug distribution processes.
