The European Union is considering imposing sanctions on Iran's aviation sector in response to allegations that Tehran has supplied ballistic missiles to Russia, according to the bloc's chief diplomat, Josep Borrell.
Reports indicate that Russia has received ballistic missiles from Iran, which are expected to be used in Moscow's ongoing war against Ukraine within weeks, according to U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Iran has denied these claims.
The EU has repeatedly warned Iran against transferring ballistic missiles to Russia, Borrell noted, adding that the bloc would respond swiftly and in collaboration with international partners if the allegations are proven true.
