Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday praised the Supreme Court's order granting bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the excise policy 'scam' case. Siddaramaiah stated that the ruling offers hope to those battling for truth and justice. He characterized the judgment as a clear rebuke to the BJP-led NDA government, accusing it of misusing Constitutional institutions for political purposes.
The Supreme Court granted bail to Kejriwal in the corruption case filed by the CBI related to the excise policy 'scam'. The court noted that prolonged incarceration equates to an unjust deprivation of liberty. Siddaramaiah remarked that the bail order reinforces faith in India's judiciary. He said, 'This order of the Supreme Court is a rebuke to the central BJP government,' and urged the Modi-led government to learn from the court's decision.
A bench of Justices Surya Kant and Ujjal Bhuyan approved Kejriwal's bail upon furnishing a bond of Rs 10 lakh and two sureties of the same amount. Kejriwal, arrested by the ED in March, has been granted interim bail for campaigning and has been incarcerated since June 2.
