NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is set to replace German diplomat Christoph Heusgen as the chair of the Munich Security Conference, sources disclosed to Reuters on Thursday.
Dubbed the 'Davos for defence', the Munich Security Conference is an essential annual gathering for global political and military leaders. It convenes once a year in Munich, Germany.
Stoltenberg will conclude his tenure at NATO in October, a position he has held since 2014. Former Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has been named as his successor, with the announcement made in June.
