The Russian interior ministry has added six foreign journalists to its wanted list, accusing them of illegally entering the Kursk region after a Ukrainian cross-border incursion, TASS reported on Thursday.

According to Russia's FSB security service, criminal cases were opened last month against several journalists, including a British correspondent for CNN and a reporter for Deutsche Welle. Other journalists wanted include a reporter for Italy's RAI and three Ukrainians from the 1+1 TV channel.

The media organizations have defended the journalists' reporting, calling their trips legitimate. The Ukrainian forces began their incursion on Aug. 6 and remain inside Russia despite facing a counteroffensive that has pushed them back in some areas.
