The Centre is set to launch a special cleanliness drive beginning October 2, aimed at reviewing government records and disposing of identified scrap, according to an official statement released on Thursday.

The government has declared that this initiative, focused on institutionalising 'swachhata' (cleanliness) and reducing public grievances, will occur annually from October 2 to October 31. Special Campaign 4.0 will commence with a preparatory phase from September 16-30, targeting offices of the Government of India with a saturation approach.

Union Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh will unveil an online web-portal for monitoring the campaign's progress during a virtual meeting with nodal officers. The previous campaigns have collectively covered over 4 lakh sites, freed considerable space, and generated significant revenue through scrap disposal.
