The BJP on Thursday urged the Supreme Court to intervene as senior judicial officers from West Bengal's Diamond Harbour sub-divisional court raised concerns over their safety. They reported a suspect loitering near their residences, potentially aiming to disrupt judicial activities.

The officers believe the person intended to cut off their power supply, especially after significant POCSO-related judicial orders. This has sparked fears aimed at deterring their work.

BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra linked the incident to the constituency of Mamata Banerjee's nephew, Abhishek Banerjee, suggesting that hooliganism is prevalent and expressing the need for the Supreme Court's cognisance to ensure judicial officer safety in the state.
