The Chandigarh Police have announced a reward of Rs 2 lakh for any information leading to the arrest of the two suspects involved in a low-intensity explosion at a house in the upscale Sector 10 area, officials said on Thursday.
The blast occurred on Wednesday evening, with the homeowner claiming that two people in an auto-rickshaw hurled a 'grenade' at the property.
The auto-rickshaw driver, who transported the suspects from Sector 43, has been apprehended, according to a police official.
Authorities have released a photograph of the two suspects, for whom a Rs 2 lakh reward is being offered for any relevant information leading to their arrest.
No casualties were reported in the explosion, though some windows and flower pots were damaged, police noted.
The house belongs to K K Malhotra, a retired principal from an institute based in Himachal Pradesh.
Police received the explosion report around 5:30 pm on Wednesday, and visuals capturing the incident and the auto-rickshaw were obtained from a CCTV camera in the area.
Regarding the claim that a grenade was used, the SSP mentioned that police are still investigating.
