The Delhi High Court on Thursday requested former probationary Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Puja Khedkar to respond to a plea by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) seeking perjury proceedings against her for allegedly making false statements and submitting a false affidavit in court.
Justice Jyoti Singh issued a notice to Khedkar on UPSC’s application and provided her three weeks to file a reply. The court has scheduled the next hearing for November 26.
The UPSC contends that its July 31 communication, which informed Khedkar of her candidature cancellation, was sent to her registered email on the same day. It alleges that she falsely claimed in court that she was unaware of the cancellation until a UPSC press release was issued. UPSC is seeking appropriate proceedings and an inquiry against her for perjury.
