Ex-CIA Officer Sentenced for Spying for China
Former CIA officer Alexander Yuk Ching Ma has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for spying for China. Ma, who worked for the CIA from 1982 to 1989, reached a plea deal with prosecutors in May. In a significant verdict, former CIA officer Alexander Yuk Ching Ma has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for espionage activities linked to China, as per the U.S. Justice Department.
Ma, aged 71, entered a plea agreement in May, acknowledging guilt in conspiring to share national defense secrets with Chinese intelligence. His CIA tenure spanned from 1982 to 1989.
Ma and a now-deceased relative, who also served in the CIA, were implicated in delivering substantial classified information in March 2001, in exchange for $50,000 from Chinese intelligence, according to the DOJ.
