Mumbai police have initiated a thorough investigation following the discovery of torn pages from the Quran Sharif, the sacred text of Muslims, an official reported on Wednesday.

The incident was uncovered on Tuesday morning by 31-year-old Mohammed Shaukat Ali Sayyad, who found the scattered pages at Bandra U-bridge on the Western Express Highway. Sayyad, a resident of Sion, began collecting the pages, soon joined by others in his effort.

After gathering the pages, Sayyad filed an official complaint at the Bandra police station. The authorities have registered a case against unknown individuals, charging them with inciting religious enmity and hurting the sentiments of a specific community. The investigation to identify those responsible is currently ongoing.
