China is set to train 3,000 foreign law enforcement officials in a bid to address global security challenges and safeguard its interests beyond national borders. This initiative marks Beijing's effort to take a more prominent role in global governance and security.

Speaking at the 2024 Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Jiangsu province, Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong highlighted the country's commitment to global public security. Wang announced the comprehensive training program for international law enforcement personnel, emphasizing China's willingness to share expertise and bolster international cooperation.

In addition to training, China will dispatch police consultants and working units to help build law enforcement capacities in various countries. The conference, attended by senior law enforcement officials and police experts from 19 countries, also discussed strategies to enhance bilateral relations and implement China's Global Security Initiative. The Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post highlighted this shift as an alternative to Western-led security governance.
