In a tense altercation in Gujarat's Bharuch city, members of two communities violently clashed over the installation of religious flags, resulting in injuries to two individuals, the police reported on Wednesday.

Seventeen people were detained following the incident in Gokul Nagar on Tuesday night. Police quickly intervened to disperse the gathered rioters and control the situation.

Bharuch Superintendent of Police Mayur Chavda, who arrived at the scene with security personnel, stated that the clash erupted as members of different faiths argued over religious flag installations ahead of Eid-e-Milad. Some vehicles were damaged in the stone-throwing altercation. An FIR was registered against 20 individuals, with 17 detained for further investigation. A similar incident occurred in Surat, where a clash broke out over a Lord Ganesh pandal.
