Putin Warns U.S. Amid Record Russian-Chinese Naval Drills

President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday warned the U.S. against outgunning Moscow in Asia as Russian and Chinese warships participated in the largest Russian naval exercises since the Soviet era. 'Ocean-2024' strategic exercises are underway, spanning from the Mediterranean to the Pacific, testing combat-readiness and high-precision weapons, including new advancements.

The exercises also incorporate lessons from Russia's Ukraine operations. Putin stressed the importance of military cooperation with friendly states amid rising geopolitical tensions. Accusing the U.S. of attempting to maintain global military dominance at any cost, Putin called for Russia to be prepared for any developments, emphasizing the strengthening of naval forces, including their nuclear component.

He also criticized the U.S. and its allies for increasing military presence near Russia and planning deployments in strategic zones. Meanwhile, the U.S. claims its Pacific alliances, like the AUKUS partnership, aim to promote regional stability. Russian Navy commander Alexander Moiseyev reported that joint exercises with China involve significant force numbers to enhance security response capabilities.

Despite being extended by the Ukraine conflict, Russia continues to conduct large-scale military drills to showcase power and strengthen defense ties with partners like China.
