Tragic Accident Sparks Protest on Jalandhar-Pathankot Highway

A tragic accident on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway led to the death of a man while his mother and brother sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred in Dasuya town, Punjab, officials reported Tuesday.
Sukhwinder Singh and his family were struck by a private bus while walking. Singh died instantly, and his relatives were rushed to the hospital. The bus driver and conductor abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene, police stated.
The accident spurred villagers to block the highway traffic, demanding compensation and a government job for Singh's family. The protest ended after Subdivisional Magistrate Pardeep Singh Bains promised to relay their demands to the state government. Deputy Superintendent of Police Jatinder Singh confirmed an FIR had been filed.
