Escalating Violence in West Bank Claims Lives of Three Israeli Police Officers
Three Israeli police officers were killed in a shooting in Hebron, West Bank, intensifying ongoing violence. Israeli security forces responded by killing a Palestinian suspect. This incident follows a series of violent events, underscoring the heightened tension and continuous clashes in Palestinian territories.
Three Israeli police officers were killed on Sunday when their vehicle came under fire near Hebron in the occupied West Bank, Israeli officials confirmed, adding to a series of violent incidents in the region. Following the attack at the Idna Tarqumiyah Junction, security forces surrounded a house in Hebron and killed a Palestinian suspected of carrying out the shooting, according to military sources.
Increased raids have been conducted by hundreds of Israeli troops across the West Bank since last Wednesday, marking one of their largest operations in the area in recent months. The military actions are aimed at rooting out Iranian-backed Islamist militants, according to Israeli statements. On the same day, the Palestinian Red Crescent reported two brothers being shot by Israeli forces in Kafr Dan, near Jenin, where military operations are still ongoing.
The large-scale deployment of Israeli forces highlights the escalating pressure as they confront militant groups on multiple fronts. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized the ongoing struggle, confirming the discovery of six Israeli hostages' bodies in Gaza. Military action has significantly damaged infrastructure in Jenin's densely populated areas, with at least 24 Palestinians killed, many claimed by Hamas and Islamic Jihad as members.
