In Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, three officials of local cooperatives have been charged with misappropriating fertiliser stocks valued at Rs 10.5 lakh, according to the police.

The case was lodged on Sunday following an official complaint by sub-divisional officer Indira Tripathi, fertiliser inspector Megha Agrawal, and food department officials. This followed inspections on August 23 at Barkhera and Sukha Nayagaon Samitis, which revealed the missing stock of DAP and urea fertilisers.

The accused, including Nanhe Lal, Anees Mishra, and branch manager Rakesh Nandesaria, face charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Fertiliser (Control) Act. Nanhe Lal has been arrested, admitting to selling the fertiliser to unauthorized buyers. Meanwhile, the other two accused remain at large.
