The Dutch government announced on Monday its partial agreement with reform proposals for the European Union put forward by former ECB chief Mario Draghi but emphasized that public investments should not be viewed as an 'end in themselves.'

In a statement sent to Reuters by the Economic Affairs ministry, a spokesperson noted that the Netherlands is still reviewing Draghi's new report. However, the government concurs on the necessity for a more integrated European policy and a reduction of 'regulatory burden.'

The conservative Dutch administration has made it clear in its governing pact that it does not support the creation of new mechanisms for sharing debt at the European level.
