In a landmark step towards strengthening the logistics capabilities of the Armed Forces, the Indian Army and Indian Air Force signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya, Vadodara. The signing ceremony, held on September 9, 2024, in New Delhi, was witnessed by Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh and Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw.

The MoU is designed to enhance the skills and capabilities of personnel in the Indian Army and Indian Air Force by developing in-house expertise in logistics operations. This collaboration will support the national objectives outlined in the PM Gati Shakti National Master Plan 2021 and the National Logistics Policy 2022.

Speaking at the event, Shri Rajnath Singh hailed the MoU as a significant partnership that aligns with the government’s vision of self-reliance in defence, emphasizing the growing importance of logistics in military operations and national security. He highlighted the critical role logistics play in mobilizing forces swiftly and ensuring resources are delivered efficiently. "An efficient logistics system is vital for the seamless movement of troops, equipment, and supplies, and this MoU will provide the necessary expertise through knowledge, innovation, and collaboration," he said.

The Defence Minister also stressed the importance of developing indigenous expertise and equipment to achieve the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India) in the defence sector.

Minister of Railways Shri Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed confidence that Gati Shakti Vishwavidyalaya would play a pivotal role in empowering the Armed Forces with advanced logistics education and innovation, contributing to the modernization of India's logistics infrastructure.

Senior officials from the Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Railways, and the Armed Forces, including the Chief of Defence Staff, Air Force Chief, Army Chief, and other dignitaries, were present at the event.
