A Jordanian gunman killed three Israeli civilians at the Allenby Bridge border crossing in the occupied West Bank. Israeli authorities reported that security forces shot the assailant dead on the same day.
This tragic incident marks the first of its kind at the border with Jordan since October 7, following a Hamas assault on southern Israel. The attack occurred in a commercial cargo area where Jordanian trucks offload cargo entering the West Bank.
The Jordanian interior ministry identified the shooter as Maher Ziab Hussein al-Jazi, a 39-year-old truck driver from Jordan's southern Ma'an governorate. Israel and Jordan signed a peace treaty in 1994 and maintain close security ties, although the Allenby Bridge, a significant trade crossing, is now temporarily closed for investigation.
