Electricity Theft in Bhiwandi: Two Booked for Rs 5.98 Lakh Fraud

Two individuals, Asif Ansari and Imran Ansari, have been booked in Bhiwandi, Thane, for stealing electricity valued at Rs 5.98 lakh. The theft, which began in August last year, involved bypassing the meter using a cable connected to a pole. A total of 18,634 units were stolen.

In Bhiwandi, Thane district, two individuals were booked for allegedly stealing electricity worth Rs 5.98 lakh, according to a police official's statement on Sunday.

The theft occurred from August last year, with the accused identified as Asif Ansari and Imran Ansari, officials from Shanti Nagar police station reported.

Both individuals have been charged under section 135 of the Electricity Act for bypassing the meter by attaching a cable directly to a pole. The theft amounted to 18,634 units of electricity. Despite being charged, the duo has not been arrested yet, the police official added.
