Three women lost their lives due to Russian shelling in a small village in the Donetsk region, eastern Ukraine, on Sunday, according to Governor Vadym Filashkin. The attack, which used cluster munitions, occurred in the morning and also injured a man while damaging nine private houses and cars.
Filashkin issued a call for residents to evacuate through a message on Telegram. The report has not been independently verified by Reuters. The Donetsk region has been subjected to persistent artillery, bomb, and missile attacks from Russian forces for months. Ukraine's military noted approximately 100 clashes in the area over the past 24 hours.
Russia has consistently denied accusations that its military intentionally targets civilians since its large-scale invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022.
