The Delhi High Court on Friday refused to grant bail to Seema Rani Khakha, wife of suspended Delhi government officer Premoday Khakha, accused of repeatedly raping a minor girl and impregnating her.

Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma dismissed the bail plea, highlighting that the case undermines the fundamental trust between two families, and suggesting the potential for witness tampering at this stage.

Premoday Khakha is alleged to have raped the minor girl multiple times between November 2020 and January 2021, with his wife accused of providing medication to terminate the resulting pregnancy. Both are currently in judicial custody.

The minor, a daughter of a person known to the accused, revealed the incidents to the authorities, leading to the arrest of the couple under the POCSO Act and Indian Penal Code. The Delhi Police counsel emphasized Seema Rani Khakha's active involvement in the crime.
