In a significant development, Mohammad Javed, one of the accused in the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, has been granted bail by the Rajasthan High Court.
Javed's plea for bail, submitted through his counsel Syed Saadat Ali, pointed out that his arrest was based solely on phone call details without substantial evidence placing him at the crime scene. The high court's Jaipur bench found merit in this argument after the NIA court had earlier denied him bail.
The case, which is being investigated by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), involves 11 accused who face charges under various IPC sections including murder and criminal conspiracy, as well as under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act.
