Official data reveals that at least 20,000 Pakistanis are currently imprisoned across 88 countries, with the majority held in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.

Among those incarcerated, 68 face the death penalty, convicted for crimes such as terrorism, murder, and drug trafficking, according to a report by The Express Tribune.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia account for 74 percent of these cases, with 5,292 and 10,432 Pakistani prisoners respectively. Additional detentions include 463 in Malaysia, 321 in the UK, and 578 in Oman.

Other countries where Pakistanis are imprisoned include Turkey, Bahrain, Greece, China, the United States, and Germany.

The report highlights that many of these prisoners suffer from a lack of proper legal representation, impartial translators, or sufficient support from Pakistani embassies.
