Last month, Pakistani actress Nimra Khan narrowly escaped an abduction attempt while waiting for her car outside a hotel in Karachi's Defence Housing area. The situation was managed by DSP Manisha Ropeta, an educated and groundbreaking female officer in the Sindh Police force.
"Initially, there were accusations and trivializations from media and social platforms, but DSP Ropeta's handling of my case helped me regain my composure," Khan recalled, noting the significance of a female officer managing her ordeal.
Ropeta is celebrated as the first Hindu female officer in Sindh's police, stationed as a Deputy Superintendent in the Defence area—a testament to her hard work and determination in a traditionally patriarchal society. Her journey from Jacobabad to Karachi, overcoming personal tragedies and societal norms, symbolizes courage and ambition, inspiring more women to consider challenging professions.
With two years of service, Ropeta emphasizes the need for gender equality and educated women in the police force: "It remains a source of pride to don my uniform, hoping my story inspires others in my community."
