A landmark peace agreement was signed between the central and Tripura governments and two insurgent groups on Wednesday. The event, held in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, aims to end violence and promote peace in the Northeastern state.
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha and senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and the state government were also present during the signing. The representatives of the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) signed the Memorandum of Settlement, marking a significant step in conflict resolution.
Addressing the gathering, Home Minister Amit Shah said the Modi government prioritizes peace and development in the Northeast. He cited the successful implementation of multiple peace agreements and announced a Rs 2,500 crore development package for the region. Shah emphasized that around 10,000 people have renounced violence and joined the mainstream due to such initiatives.
