Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the new Chancery premises of the High Commission of India in Brunei today. The ceremony included lighting a lamp and unveiling a plaque.

During the event, the Prime Minister interacted with members of the Indian community, commending their role as a living bridge between India and Brunei and their efforts in strengthening bilateral ties. He noted that the Indian presence in Brunei dates back to the 1920s with the discovery of oil, and today around 14,000 Indians reside in Brunei. Their contributions to Brunei’s healthcare and education sectors have been highly valued.

The new chancery complex reflects a deep sense of Indianness, featuring traditional motifs and lush tree plantations. The design incorporates elegant claddings and durable Kota stones, blending classic and contemporary styles to honor India's cultural heritage while creating a serene and welcoming environment.
