Russia Bombards Kyiv and Lviv Amid Fresh Escalations
Russia launched a missile and drone assault on Kyiv and Lviv, escalating the ongoing conflict. This follows a deadly attack on a Ukrainian military institute in Poltava. Air defenses in Ukraine and Poland were activated, with residential areas damaged. Russia claims its strikes target military infrastructure.
Russia launched a series of missile and drone attacks on Kyiv and Lviv, Ukraine's military reported on Wednesday. The assaults come just a day after a devastating strike on a military institute in Poltava, which killed 50 and injured hundreds more.
Witnesses in Kyiv and Lviv described hearing multiple blasts, likely from air defense systems attempting to intercept the attacks. Lviv Regional Governor Maksym Kozytskyi confirmed damage to residential buildings and emphasized the loudness of the air defense operations.
Neighboring Poland has heightened its air defense readiness, activating aircraft for the third time in eight days to protect its airspace. The entire Ukrainian territory was on high alert following fresh warnings of additional missile threats, particularly targeting the Lviv region.
