Manhattan prosecutors have pushed back against former President Donald Trump's move to delay post-trial decisions in his New York hush money case. Trump is seeking federal court intervention to overturn his criminal conviction.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office emphasized in a letter to the trial judge that there is no legal necessity to defer post-trial decisions. They also mentioned they could agree to postponing the sentencing originally scheduled for September 18.

Judge Juan M. Merchan, overseeing Trump's case, is set to rule on September 16 on the motion to overturn the verdict. Prosecutors urged him not to delay rulings on critical defense requests, including Trump's bid to postpone sentencing until after the November election and to dismiss the case based on presidential immunity grounds.
