RPF Cracks Down on Extortion by Arresting 59 Transgender Individuals
In response to passenger complaints of extortion, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has arrested 59 transgender individuals across three divisions of the North Central Railway. Under the direction of Principal Chief Security Commissioner Amiy Nandan Sinha, this operation was conducted between August 19 and September 2. Fines totaling Rs 6,900 were imposed, and 20 individuals were sent to jail.

In response to complaints of extortion from railway passengers, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) has taken significant action by arresting 59 transgender individuals over the past fortnight, officials announced on Tuesday.
Amit Malviya, Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, revealed that under the direction of Principal Chief Security Commissioner (RPF) Amiy Nandan Sinha, an intensive crackdown was carried out from August 19 to September 2. The operation spanned across the three divisions of North Central Railway—Prayagraj, Agra, and Jhansi.
During the operation, 59 transgender individuals were arrested under various relevant sections of the Railways Act 1989. According to Malviya, fines totaling Rs 6,900 were imposed, and 20 individuals have been jailed. Such campaigns will continue to ensure safe and smooth travel for railway passengers.
