A 26-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Chhitni Talab on Tuesday, police officials reported. Allegations of murder and dowry harassment have been raised by the victim's parents.
Four individuals, including the woman's husband, have been detained for questioning. The woman's body was found hanging by a saree in a room and has been identified as Ganga Devi, according to local Station House Officer (SHO) Ashwini Kumar Tripathi.
Ganga's mother, Tara Devi, has accused her daughter's husband and in-laws of murdering her for dowry and then staging the hanging. Authorities report that all detainees are habitual drinkers. The police have sent the body for a post-mortem examination and await the autopsy report for further action.
