Two corporators from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have been implicated in a bribery case in Surat, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) announced on Tuesday. The corporators, Vipul Suhagiya and Jitendra Kachhadia, allegedly demanded Rs 10 lakh from a parking facility operator to prevent contract cancellation and a police complaint.

The ACB apprehended Suhagiya after registering an FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act, based on forensic voice spectrography tests and recorded conversations. Kachhadia remains at large, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police, GV Padheriya.

The contractor recorded incriminating phone calls and submitted a CD to the ACB, which confirmed through forensic analysis that the conversations had not been tampered with. The forensic evidence substantiated the bribery claims, prompting official action.
