The Mizoram government has issued a stern warning to its citizens, urging them to take necessary precautions amidst ongoing heavy rainfall battering the state.
In a public notice released by the Disaster Management and Rehabilitation Department, residents were instructed to check their surroundings for proper rainwater drainage to avert possible mishaps.
Since August 19, unrelenting rainfall has led to several landslides and transportation disruptions, compelling the closure of schools in various districts as a safety measure. Despite a landslide causing an abandoned building to collapse without casualties, at least 42 people have been reported dead from rain-related incidents since March.
