Missiles Pound Kyiv: Ukraine Faces Renewed Attacks
Russia launched a missile attack on Kyiv early Monday, causing damage and injuries. Emergency services responded to several districts, and air raid alerts were activated nationwide. NATO member Poland increased its airspace security. Kyiv's mayor confirmed air defence activities repelling the attacks.
Russia pounded Ukraine's capital, Kyiv, with missile strikes early Monday. The city's mayor reported that emergency services were dispatched to multiple districts following reports of damage and injuries from falling debris.
Ukraine's air force, via the Telegram app, confirmed repeated launches of ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv. City officials indicated that air defence units were actively repelling the attacks. A fire broke out in the Shevchenkivskyi district, notable for its educational institutions, and medics attended to at least one person.
Emergency services were also sent to the districts of Svyatoshynksyi, Holosiivskyi, and Solomyanskyi. These areas include key infrastructure such as a train station and the main airport. Reuters witnesses reported several loud explosions, suggesting air defence activity. The assault follows a massive attack by Moscow a week earlier, marking a continued escalation.
