Quality forensic science is essential to ensure that justice is served and no innocent individual is wrongfully punished, emphasized a British expert on Saturday.
Professor Robert Green from the University of Kent underscored the significance of evaluation, ideas, and critical thinking in forensic science during a special lecture at the Uttar Pradesh State Institute of Forensic Science (UPSIFS) in Lucknow. Honored with the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in 2008, Green shared his insights on law, laboratory processes, and justice with the institute's students. Allahabad High Court's Justice Rajiv Singh, the chief guest, supported these views.
Highlighting the field's growth since 1995, Professor Green noted that forensic science has significantly expanded, increasing employment opportunities. He stressed the need for good policies, visionary leadership, and awareness in the criminal justice process to maintain quality forensic science. Justice Singh added that as crime methods evolve, the importance of forensic science has become critical in ensuring evidence is correctly interpreted to bring criminals to justice.
