EU Defence Ministers Approve Training Plan for Ukrainian Troops

European Union defence ministers have agreed to conduct the bloc's training of Ukrainian forces as close as possible to Ukraine, but not within its territory. The EU aims to train 75,000 Ukrainian troops by the end of the year, having already trained 60,000 so far, according to EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell.

European Union defence ministers have reached a consensus to carry out the bloc's training for Ukrainian forces proximate to the war-torn country, but not on its soil, EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell announced on Friday.

Addressing the media following a meeting of the ministers in Brussels, Borrell disclosed that they have set an ambitious target to train 75,000 Ukrainian troops by year's end. This is in addition to the 60,000 Ukrainian soldiers trained up to this point.

The decision reflects the EU's commitment to support Ukraine amidst its ongoing conflict, without breaching Ukrainian territorial integrity.
