The Andhra Pradesh Legislature is on the verge of a significant digital transformation. The state assembly will soon adopt the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA), a central government initiative aimed at rendering legislative procedures entirely paperless. This groundbreaking step was approved by Legislative Council Chairman Koyye Moshenu Raju and Assembly Speaker C Ayyannapatrudu.
An official statement on Friday confirmed that the legislature intends to transition to a completely paperless system, integrating NeVA for all its processes. Senior officials Umang Narula and Satya Prakash from the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs visited the Andhra Pradesh Legislature to engage with stakeholders in a meeting organized by Legislature Secretary General Prasanna Kumar Suryadevara.
Explaining the initiative, Umang Narula described NeVA as a Mission Mode Project (MPP) that aims to digitize all legislative bodies across India, bringing them onto a single platform dubbed 'Digital Legislatures'. Further discussions included a tripartite agreement between the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the Andhra Pradesh Legislature, and the state's IT Department to advance the project. Work will commence once the detailed project report is finalized.
