Tribunal Awards Rs 16.33 Lakh to Family in Nine-Year-Old Road Accident Case
The Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has granted Rs 16.33 lakh to the family of Ankush Barku Tambikar, a 25-year-old man who died in a road accident in 2015. The tribunal directed the bus owner and insurer to pay the amount with 8 percent interest. The insurance can recover it from the bus owner.

In a significant ruling, the Thane Motor Accident Claims Tribunal has awarded a compensation of Rs 16.33 lakh to the family of Ankush Barku Tambikar, who tragically lost his life in a road accident nine years ago.
According to the tribunal's decision, both the bus owner, Sai Shruti Travels, and the insurer, Reliance General Insurance Company Ltd, are ordered to provide this payment jointly and severally with an 8 percent interest rate from the petition filing date. The ruling, delivered by MACT member S N Shah on August 17, came to light on Thursday.
Tambikar, aged 25, was fatally injured when a luxury bus collided with his motorbike on August 13, 2015. His mother and wife will receive the compensation. The tribunal noted that the insurance company can reclaim the amount from the bus owner.
