Desperate Protests for Israeli Hostages in Gaza

Families of Israeli hostages in Gaza protested near the border, demanding their release. They shouted messages of love and support, and at one point, attempted to cross into Gaza. Despite their efforts, international attempts at a ceasefire and a deal for hostage release have failed.

Families of Israeli hostages being held in Gaza staged a protest near the border on Thursday, demanding their release. Demonstrators at kibbutz Nirim, 2 km from the border, shouted messages of love and support through speakers pointed towards Gaza. They carried photographs and wore shirts marked with red paint.

Jon Polin, whose son Hersh was taken hostage from a music festival, expressed solidarity: 'Hersh, it's dada. What you need to know, and all 107 of you need to know, is...people all over the world are fighting for you.'

A few dozen protesters attempted to reach Gaza but were stopped by Israeli police, who warned of militant threats. 'We were trying to get into Gaza to get the hostages back,' said Gil Dickmann, whose cousin Carmel Gat is held captive. 'We have to sign a deal now.' Their cries underline the urgent need for international intervention.
