The Supreme Court of India on Thursday demanded the bank statements of an accused to scrutinize financial dealings linked to the sale of 4.55 acres of Indian Army land in Ranchi, allegedly facilitated using falsified property documents.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, currently out on bail, is also an accused in a money laundering case related to this alleged scam. The top court was considering an appeal by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against the Jharkhand High Court's decision to grant bail to co-accused Dilip Ghosh on November 28, 2023.

ldquo; You produce the bank statement (of the accused) of the relevant period by today evening itself. It will come up for hearing tomorrow (Friday)," a bench comprising Justices Bela M Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma instructed senior advocate S. Nagamuthu, who represents Dilip Ghosh.
