A Delhi court will announce its ruling on MP Engineer Rashid's application for regular bail in a high-profile 2017 Jammu and Kashmir terror funding case on September 4. Rashid, who has been imprisoned since 2019, seeks relief amid severe allegations.
During in-camera proceedings, Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh reserved the order after hearing arguments. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) opposes Rashid's bail, fearing he may tamper with evidence and influence witnesses. The agency also plans to submit a 'pruned list' of witnesses to expedite the trial.
The NIA alleges Rashid misused telephone privileges in jail and warns of risk if granted bail. Accusations include receiving funds from abroad and links with terror outfits like the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF). The agency claims Rashid used his political influence to promote separatist ideologies and disrupt national security.
