In a significant verdict, a court has found three men guilty of conspiracy and kidnapping, in connection with a case dating back 15 years. Gaurav Chauhan, Ankur Singh, and Sahi Ram were convicted for abducting Nikunj Mittal and extorting Rs 2 crore as ransom from his father, Rajiv Mittal.
Presiding over the case, Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Kharta affirmed that the prosecution had successfully proven guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The court's decision was heavily supported by clear and consistent testimonies from Rajiv and Nikunj Mittal, alongside corroborative evidence from other witnesses and scientific findings.
The judge's 91-page verdict highlighted that both scientific and circumstantial evidence conclusively pointed to the trio's guilt. The case will proceed to a sentencing phase on August 29, after the submission of income and asset affidavits from the convicts.
