Punjab Police have apprehended three more suspects in connection to the shooting of an NRI in Amritsar. The joint operation involved the district police of Hoshiarpur and Amritsar, who arrested the alleged perpetrators from a 'dharmashala' in Hoshiarpur.

The police had earlier stated that Sukhwinder alias Sukha and Gurkirat Singh alias Guri were hired to carry out the attack on Sukhchain Singh, who had recently returned from the US. The attack occurred on Saturday when the assailants intercepted Singh at his house in Daburji village, shooting him twice before fleeing the scene.

Amritsar Police Commissioner Ranjit Singh Dhillon revealed that the attack was orchestrated by the family of Singh's first wife, who had committed suicide in December 2022. Special Director General of Police R N Dhoke met with Singh's family, stating that he is out of danger.
