The CBI on Monday commenced a second round of polygraph tests on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and five others. This follows Ghosh's inconsistent answers during questioning about the rape-murder of a woman doctor and financial irregularities at the institution.

Initially, lie-detection tests were conducted on Ghosh and others on Saturday, with another test administered to accused Sanjay Roy at the Presidency Correctional Home on Sunday. The investigation also explores potential financial irregularities involving Ghosh and former medical superintendent Sanjay Vashisth.

The case concerns the rape-murder of a postgraduate trainee doctor in the hospital's seminar hall on August 9, which led to nationwide protests. On Sunday, the CBI searched the homes of Ghosh and Vashisth, with Ghosh presenting files at the CBI office on Monday, and Vashisth questioned at Nizam Palace.

Additionally, the CBI expanded its search to 13 locations in Kolkata, examining residences and offices tied to patient care and hospital management. This action ensued following a complaint alleging that unauthorized tenders were issued within the hospital.

The Calcutta High Court directed the CBI to investigate both the murder case and the suspected financial irregularities.
