The Karnataka High Court has intervened to halt an investigation into a man accused of preventing his wife from eating French fries after the delivery of their child in the US.
Justice M Nagaprasanna labeled the accusations trivial and stayed the probe, asserting that continuing the investigation would constitute an abuse of the legal process.
Commenting on the case, the judge said, ''Allowing any investigation against the husband would become an abuse of the process of law and put a premium on the wife's trivial allegations.'' Consequently, an interim stay on all investigation concerning the husband was ordered.
The husband, working in the US, was also granted permission to return to his job after he assured cooperation with the investigating authorities. His petition described the complaint as frivolous, highlighting that a Look Out Circular had barred him from returning to the US.
Accusations from the wife included her husband preventing her from eating French fries, rice, and meat. The husband countered, stating his wife forced him to perform all household chores. Justice Nagaprasanna criticized the use of the LOC, underscoring the frivolous nature of the complaint and permitting the man's return to his professional duties.
