Sikkim CM Announces Pension Hike for Former MLAs

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang declared an increase in minimum monthly pensions for former MLAs to Rs 50,000. This announcement was made during the 22nd Foundation Day of the Former Legislators Federation of Sikkim (FLFS). The government will also provide Rs 20 lakh annually to FLFS for emergency and medical needs.

Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang has announced a significant hike in the monthly pensions of former Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). Effective immediately, former MLAs will receive a minimum monthly pension of Rs 50,000, up from Rs 22,000.

The announcement was made during the 22nd Foundation Day of the Former Legislators Federation of Sikkim (FLFS). Tamang detailed that those MLAs who served two terms or more will see their monthly pension increased to Rs 55,000 from Rs 25,000.

In addition, the chief minister revealed that an annual grant-in-aid of Rs 20 lakh will be provided to the FLFS to cater to the emergency and medical needs of the former legislators, thereby enhancing their overall support system.
