Workers from the Shiv Sena (UBT), Congress, and NCP (SP) joined forces to stage a protest in Nashik. This came as part of the Maha Vikas Aghadi's statewide agitation against the sexual assault on two schoolgirls in Badlapur, Thane district.
The MVA had initially called for a 'bandh' on Saturday, but the Bombay High Court issued a restraint order on Friday, preventing all parties and individuals from proceeding with the bandh.
Donning black armbands and mouth masks, Congress and NCP (SP) workers gathered near the Dr. Ambedkar statue on Shivaji Road, voicing their discontent with the Eknath Shinde government. ''These incidents are escalating in the state. They've also occurred in Latur, Kolhapur, and Nashik. The state government must not suppress these cases. The school management must also be held accountable,'' stated Dhule Lok Sabha MP Shobha Bachhav. NCP (SP) leader Kondaji Awhad demanded capital punishment for the culprits.
