Aniruddha Modanlal was arrested on Saturday for allegedly duping candidates by offering leaked question papers for the Uttar Pradesh Police constable recruitment exam, a Special Task Force (STF) press release revealed.

Modanlal, reportedly working under the direction of mastermind Abhay Kumar Srivastav, created a Telegram channel where he charged candidates Rs 1 lakh each to provide them with fraudulent question papers. He then withdrew the money and distributed fake exam papers. STF officials arrested Modanlal and are now on the lookout for Srivastav.

In the meantime, lakhs of candidates appeared for the constable recruitment exam under stringent security measures at 1,174 centers across 67 districts in Uttar Pradesh. Approximately 9.5 lakh candidates are expected each of the five exam days, with tight security implemented to deter unfair practices.
